I opened up my email inbox Saturday night to find 126 comment notifications. Yikes, you guys are scrap lovers. I expected maybe 30 people to say “yeah I’ll take your scraps…I guess....whatever,” but I NEVER expected 253 of you to reply! You guys must love scraps, and just so you know I’ve read every single comment. I gave up nap time sewing because I had so much fun reading all of them and looking at your blogs. It really is so inspiring to see so many quilters out there, and how many people are just getting started ( its addicting…you’ve been warned).
Today I decided to share with you a really ugly shirt I made last week.
Not to be gross or anything, but it reminds me of speckled puke. I think (know) its the really ugly yellow mixed with my fair skin, bad combo. Plus it reminds me of a scrub top I used to wear to work in my hygienist days. So this one will be donated, if they’ll take it.
Anyways, now that you’ve seen my ugly shirt, I have ALOT of counting to do in the morning. So I’m off to dreamland, see you tomorrow morning with winner!

I don't know about the shirt,it looks well made, but yellow doesn't look good on me either,LOL! But dang that would look good in one of my yellow and blue log cabin quilts!
Yellow is not my color either but I think it looks cute.
And thanks for visiting AND COMMENTING on my blog, I didn't expect it. It was very much appreciated. :)
Allison, I like the yellow and can really see it in a quilt. Just throw it in with the scraps...lol! Thanks!
I just can't wear yellow. But I do like that top, maybe it a dark color. I like that fabric though, I have some of it. Just trying to figure out what to do with it. I'm thinking about making it into a patchwork something :)
Yeah, that's pretty ugly. I can say that because I am also fair and freckley. I would not be caught dead in yellow, much less yellow with a green tint to it. BUT some people would look fabulous in it since it's a great design! I suggest holding it for a special blog giveaway sometime down the road. I promise not to enter since it wouldn't be fair to my friends and family to have to witness the speckled puke...
I was thinking the same thing becasue my husband is a dentist and I was ( along while ago) also a hygienist!!!
You crack me up, lady!
The shirt isn't that bad, but I thought it looked like a scrub top too!
I have no doubt it will be taken as a donation! You should make it a give away and see how many comments you get for it vs the scraps! LOL!
I think the top's really pretty - lovely spring colour! But I can understand how it might not look good - yellow is a difficult colour to wear. And I'm not surprised you got so many comments!

I do like the shape of the blouse. It is actually quite nice. can you share the pattern name please?
Maybe I am just weird, but I like the shirt! You could donate it to a busy Mom in Tennessee :)
All right I'm glad to see that someone else shares in the opinion that sometimes these shirts look a little "scrubish", and I'm not sure if I've ever seen a really flattering scrub top. I like the material, so I"m sure some hygienist will love the puke shirt.
I feel ya, I have yellow cast skin so I can't wear yellow either. But I still think it's nice.
My sister in law is a fashion maven and never buys anywhere but the finest. Not like me...I love Nordstom, but I love Target too! Anyway, on Easter she had on a top exactly like that style you are featuring, from Nordsrom, and I am sure it cost a pretty penny. But in the neckline was a darling silky ribbon to tie a bow. I thought it was adorable. Just a thought.
: ) Love your blog.
Take off the pockets, maybe cap sleeves... Different color (I can't wear yellow either), that top could be cute.
i think it looks so great. what about if you kept it, and wore it under a cardigan?
Is this simplicity 3835? I just made a top with that pattern. I used a lightweight white cotton that is not eyelet but similar. It has also elastic at the sleeves and no pockets.
Hi: I just came across your blog and your top made me stay and read! I love that top. It's a keeper! I really think it looks good on you. Maybe it's the shape and the black and white dots help too. I just think that it's a funky top (in a good way). Oh, I love your blog! -Janice
I'd like to second Fiesta's comment. What pattern did you use? It looks like a great summer top.
