You know those cute eye spy bags like this or that? Well this is not like that, this is the 5 minute ghetto version.
I bought a pencil pouch at Target, sewed around the sides, bottom and top leaving a 2” hole at the top, added my trinkets (dollar store), added my rice, sewed the hole shut, and cut around it with pinking shears. If your not making the last minute version like myself, use those little clear floral beads you can buy at craft stores by the floral supplies.
Today the little man and I fly to Denver while hubby drives.
Wish me luck…..I’m gonna need it….and pray I don’t have a cranky old man sitting next to me.

Love it! Great idea. I'm gonna try that for my little ones for our 10 hour road trip coming up in a couple weeks.
I love the eye spy bag! And yes, I will say a prayer.
oh, sooooo much better than the "cutsie" ones. I've made them, and they are NO fun :) I way prefer yours :) I'm gonna have to do it for the kiddos! Thanks and good luck on the flight!! I've been there before so we'll be praying for ya!
I love your ghetto version! Never seen one of these before today.
Good luck on the plane ride. *crosses fingers*
Good luck on the flight... that bag should last you about what, 5 minutes of entertainment value?
That's BRILLIANT!!! But now you've got Elvis playing in my head... I hope nobody's mama is crying on the plane and that it is a good flight for you both and the cranky man next to you. :)

I love it! I wish I had seen this post before our road trip today!
i hope your trip goes well!
What a great idea. I just got back from Denver last night. Lovely weather--nice lightening shows at night but warm and breezy during the day.
have a great trip! Your little boy is just darling! I have a feeling that if we put him and Titus in a room together, they would run a muck! ha! I'm going to try the eye spy bag...so cool.
I've never seen one of these bags before and I think that they're a great idea. I'm going to try and make on too!
Oh my goodness! I love it and I wish you would have made it a little bit sooner! I just bought one of those premade ones for 15 bucks. Yours looks great, and you can personalize it with stuff your little one likes. Great job!
Hehe the fact that you called it your ghetto version made me laugh out loud.
This would have been so perfect for our trip this week! Oh well I'll make them when I get back for the next trip.
hahahaha! LOVE your ghetto version! Sooooo much easier! I still have all the supplies I bought to make ones for Christmas...mmmm....not so good. :) Have a safe trip!
So cute! Saying a prayer for safe travels. :D
I LOVE your site! I just stumbled upon it while searching for some fun sewing tutorials! I added you to to my bloglines and will look forward to reading future posts! :)
Loving all your quilts...especially the vintage sheet quilt!!
Great idea. I made quite a few bags a couple of years ago, but yours looks much simpler and it is a nice size.
i hope it went well... he is adorable!!
Love the I Spy bag; I'll have to try one for the grandkids. Cute kiddo too! Many wishes for safe travels.
Genius, sheer genius! Good luck!
I love the ghetto version. Maybe I should add those to my inventory....your sons eyes are to die for! What a cutie
Those eyes are incredible!

thank you!! love the blog :)
LOL I love the ghetto version. I've made some ghetto versions myself for my own kids when I just can't spare any shop stock for them. I know, my poor kids can't even enjoy what their own mama makes! I just wanted to thank you for linking back to one of my bags because I've actually gotten a lot of traffic from it. I found this because I was trying to learn about my Google analytics.... what a pain! Anyway, thanks again and have a great day :)
I am so so glad I found this post! I love the idea of "sensory bins," but I wanted to find a way to do it without mess up/clean up and overall hassle. This may be the way! I would love to pay you to make me some of those sewn pencil pouches! You may think they're ghetto, but I think they're great! =D
