If this blog were named Cluck. Cluck. Lay around all day I would have lots to blog about. But alas…its not, so I don’t. Mostly I’m blaming it on not feeling so great, but mostly because I’ve felt like watching some brain cell sucking TV. Only a little sewing has been done…like this fall table runner.
( I even left the food smudge on the red chair for your viewing pleasure)
And the most exciting (really) news of the week…our chickens started laying eggs. Not your ordinary eggs…green eggs. I can’t remember what the kind of chicken is, but they lay green and blue eggs. We call them our Martha Stewart chickens. ![]()
You can imagine how excited my 2 1/2 year old is to run down to the chicken coop 50 times a day to see if there’s eggs. He doesn’t quite understand that chickens can’t lay 50 eggs a day, so sometimes we have to sneak store bought eggs into the nests before he gets down there. Its like Christmas every time he opens the egg hatches and finds all those eggs in there. :)

Hope you are back to your sewing/quilting self soon and get away from that brain cell sucking tv!!! Love the tablerunner, it looks great.
Are your chickens Aracaunas?? Not sure of the spelling but I know they lay green and blue eggs. You are going to CONFUSE the hens with those store bought eggs. They are going to think they already did their job for the day. Just explain farm like to your child. :D
Oh Allison, you made my day! I want to congratulate you on nurturing the wonder your son has. As a grandmother, I get it. Thanks for making my day, Elaine
Sometimes we need a lil break to gather inspiration... lovely runner though! I laughed out loud at the thought of your boy constantly running to the coop... my aunt had chickens and her kids were very obsessed with finding eggs too hehe So cute!
I really like the table runner. But I have to say I am impressed with those darn cute green eggs! Loved reading about your son and can just picture the excitement that all three of you have, such a cute image of your husband and you surprising your child with extra eggs.
Happy Monday, Tracy
Brain cell sucking TV is sometimes very needed ;)
And your table runner looks great, love the color combo with the vase
We had chickens when I was a child and it was always a race between me and my brothers to be first at the coop....
egg trickery?.. that isn't nice!! but kinda funny.. & your table runner is super cute!!
I think they're called Auracania?is that spelled correctly?
Anyway- I can relate to the cluck cluck sit around all day...tho' I have been trying to make things they're not working out too well.
Love the table runner ;)
I can relate...you need brain sucking TV sometimes...I'm trying to get motivated again too. Your tablerunner has inspired me...I need a fall one!
hmmm...we need chickens, and ones that lay green and blue eggs...nice!
Green and blue eggs? How stinking cool is that? You learn something new every day.
martha stewart eggs, LOL. that's a good one!!! actually, i am quite certain that she has a pain chip that exact color. :)
How wicked is that table runner?! And the blue eggs make me sooo jealous. We have 12 chickens (don't ask me which kind, we inherited them when we bought the house!) They are very pretty, but they only bake us brown eggs :)
LOVE that table runner! Love the design, love the colors, love it!!
love the table runner and the picture you painted of your little one running to the coop continually. :)
Gee, we could have the same blog name!
Congratulations on the chickens.
this table runner is lovely...the colors are great...did you use a pattern? Hooray for eggs...i know my kids would be running back and forth all day too if we had chickens
It's the same for me - laying about and not getting any sewing done. :) I hope you're feeling better soon!
How fun and sneaky with the eggs! I believe you have Americaunus chickens, maybe?
What pretty little eggs! Just think - you won't have to dye eggs at Easter time. The job has been done for you!
I love the runner, great colors that work perfect with the vase. I guess you planned it that way :)
We have a chicken that lays green eggs though she got broody and now hides them. Haven't seen one in months. So sad. Hope that doesn't happen and disappoint your little one.
Your green eggs are so cool! And I love your table runner. Did you use a pattern or just made your own?
Loving the table runner. Nice choice of fabric to go together.
And how adorable is it that he loves to check for the eggs and that you sneak some in there for him.
Yes, they are Araucana chickens! And the table runner is fabulous!
Love the table runner, and yea for the hens starting to lay!
Hehehe, you sneaking store bought eggs in is sooo sweet. It reminds me of Tori Spelling's mom hiding really big, nice shells on the beach for them to find.
I am so jealous! I really want some chickens and fresh eggs!
What an adorable table runner...would you consider sharing the pattern, if it's your own?

For starters, I'm pea-green with envy that you have such a lovely vegetable garden and chickens that lay green eggs. I REALLY want to have both in our yard someday or move onto a bit of acreage.
Do you think you could add one more tutorial to your growing list of loveliness on your sidebar? I really want to learn how to make a table runner like your fall one. It's lovely.
I am an orpington girl myself. They lay brown eggs. The easter eggers (araucana/americauna cross mixes)do lay pretty eggs but I prefer my orps. Congrats on your lovely eggs and gardens.
I am a city girl in Charlotteotwn Prince Edward Island and we have 8 hens. 2 delawares.3 new hampshire reds and 3 americaunas(which lay green/blue eggs). We got them in June and they haven't started laying yet. How old are your hens? We also have 4 roosters who have started to crow so I was hoping that ment the hens would be laying soon. Anyways I love the table runner and I am green with envy over your eggs:)
