{he’s really smiling at the candy next to my camera…. works every time.}
Yesterday I tried out this pattern. It was the easiest, most fun pattern I’ve done in a long time! And with NO hand sewing like other tie patterns. I’m so excited about these, especially now that I’m having another boy. The best part is the pattern comes with 5 different tie patterns, including a tie for Dad so I can make my husband and son matching ties for Christmas! Made with "man" fabric of course.
The ties I made were with the classic guy pattern. The first tie I made with really light interfacing as the pattern called for, but the second tie ( on my son in the picture) I used no interfacing and actually liked it better. With starch it was nice and crisp even without the interfacing. And with my fabric I didn’t cut on the bias, so I only used about 1/3 yard fabric for one tie. Which means each tie cost me like 3 bucks! And the second tie took me under 20 minutes to make. Which means my poor sons are going to have new ties every Sunday for the rest of their lives.
Megan was sweet enough to send me 2 extra patterns to giveaway. To enter just leave a comment on this post before noon on Monday the 23rd. You can also buy the pattern here in her etsy shop or order a ready made tie here. Good luck!

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 243 of 243this is so cool! I would love to make ties for my 7 year old son to wear on Sundays also! It's impossible to find cool boys ties in the stores, and when they're little, might as well make them fun!
What a cute pattern!
That tie is great! My son (12 y/o) has just asked me if I could make him some "cool" ties. I think this would be perfect.

Ah! This is too perfect! My 4 year old saw a little boy a church last week with a tie on and said, "Awe, he has a tie..." And with quite the disappointed face! I was going to buy him one for Christmas but now I can make one! So excited!

I love it. I love your little guy. The big guy over here refuses to wear a tie, but I think I could get him to wear one with the little guy had a matching one and begged!
Oh I love to have one of the patterns. My daughter has Fancy Fridays at school and has asked me if she could wear a tie. Wouldn't great to do a pattern in girly fabrics.
Your son and his tie are adorable. Having 2 boys of my own, I would love to give this a try. Thanks for the giveaway!
Your boys are so cute! I have 2 of my own and wouldn't it be cool to make them matching ties.

I just bought this pattern, and I just wanted to make sure that you really can get 1 tie out of 1/3 yard of fabric. : ) I don't want to worry about the bias cut. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. You can email me at butterflyhugs@shaw.ca Thanks.
