I’ve been busy sewing things for baby. I’ve finished some receiving blanket and some bibs. The receiving blanket is just a single piece of flannel with a hand sewn binding around it (idea from this book). Its so sweet….and will be stained with baby poop about .002 seconds after he’s born. The bibs I made by tracing a small newborn bib I had and adding 1/4", then I just sewed them up and added snaps.

Last time I had a baby I wasn’t a sewer, so this time around I’m LOVING that I get to sew for my own baby!

Love the fabrics you used!
I love the receiving blanket! As he gets older he'll love chewing on the corners. :) The bibs are beautiful. I agree that sewing for your own baby is extremely fulfilling; you can put so much love into every piece, and the mistakes don't really matter. I feel like there's also something very timeless about it. Marking the long days waiting for an upcoming baby by making things for him is something women have done for eons. It feels so good. And it's almost as if the finished projects wait with as much anticipation for baby as you do. Plus it's a tangible reminder that baby is coming. Eventually.
Sorry to wax philosophical. My last baby is seven months old now. Is there anything better than babies? Happy nesting! Enjoy every stitch. :)
Cute! I've been busy making bibs for my little girl too. Can't see to have enough of them.
too sweet and wish I had been a "real" sewer when my boys were born!
Merry Christmas!
Very very cute!
Those bibs look great! How cute! I may have to try some of these for a friend who has a newborn
So cute! He will be the little fashion plate!
I've yet to have any poo poo on anything other than a diaper & the changing table cover! (& I was worried about having to wash all of the stuff that I made. PSHAW. Now that I have typed that, my now 1 year old will get creative!)
Very cute! I especially just love those bibs!
So fun. I love them! These bibs are my favorite. I have made them with a couple babies and a favorite gift to people having a baby. Love the blanket idea. So simple, but perfect and special.
Your baby will be so stylish in those designer fabrics! I'm looking forward to the time when I have babies and kids to sew for, so much more fun than sewing for yourself =)
Those are great fabrics. That is so fun when you get to create darling baby accessories for your OWN baby! Congratulations!
Loving the fabrics you used on the bibs and binding of the blankie. When I have kids, they're going to have ridiculous amounts of things sewn by me hehe
Can you ever have too many receiving blankets? Don't think so.
I made a baby quilt for my daughter's Matron of Honor when she had her first little babe. One day she e-mailed me saying she was so upset. He had pooped on it and she couldn't get the stain out. I wrote back that I was delighted . . . that I had hoped it would be used and a part of his babyhood!
I love the little bibs. So cute!
These are REALLY cute! I'm sewing the same right now for some friends expecting a baby in a couple of months, I finished the receiving blanket last night and bibs and burp cloths are up next. I love yours!
you are going to have one well accessorized little baby...you are so lucky to be able to do all this sewing for your baby.
I have a baby bib for my cousin to finish up but I'll be honest...I've never done snaps before! What did you do? What tool did you use? What was your experience like?
Thanks! Congrats on the babe...when is he due?
You are such a good little mommy. Don't let having boys keep you from sewing for them - I sewed for mine and they are 27 and 23 now. And guess what - I now have a little 10 month old granddaughter to sew for!!!
Love your bibs! I just got some of that red American Jane. Wish I had some more of the green Katie jump rope.

Isn't that book you got the receiving blanket idea out of fabulous? I think I've checked it out from the library about 40 times!
Great colorful bibs! I love sewing those kinds of quick projects for babies - easy to finish and great to use.
