Downtown

IMG_1767

We spent the night downtown Seattle last night.  I love downtown at Christmas for the lights and shop windows, the carousel and the decorations.  But not so much for pushing a stroller on busy sidewalks, traffic, a gross breakfast at Mcdonalds, watching my son eat tic tacs he found on the sidewalk, the mother of all tantrums in Nordstroms, the guy peeing in public, and a big fatty parking ticket.  And even after the stress of being downtown with my 2 year old, I still  love being there at Christmas time.  And next year we’ll have two kids….so it will be double the fun. :)

Sorry I’ve been slow to answer emails, I’ll get back on track sometime this week hopefully.   And if not then the next week for sure.  :)

Hi Allison. I just love Seattle. That WA area in general. Thanks for showing me the picture. I'm sure it was fun. I've never been there during Christmas.

Merry Christmas. Hugs....Tracy

My son and I went to take a look at that start this evening. It was lovely. Downtown Seattle is amazing at Christmas.

Sounds like you guys had fun! I loved spending a Christmas in NYC a few years ago, looking at all the lights and decorations.

Btw I almost passed out when I read the tic tac thing haha!

I miss living in Seattle so much! It really is a beautiful city - and I'm not much of one for city life. Drink it all in for those of us who can't be there. :)

I used to live on Whibey Island so I am familiar with Seattle. I like it there too. I am not one for city life either and would rather not have to deal with it.

I'm sorry that you had a gross breakfast at McDonald's~ Was it the food? The service? Everything? My husband has worked for the company for 37 years, starting when he was 17, and in high school!
He LOVES his job and the company. Despite life not being perfect at all times, it is upsetting to both of us when we hear of an unfortunate experience. Glad that (most of) the rest of your trip was awesome!
Best of luck w/ that bew baby!!

I grew up in Silverdale, and we went to Seattle a lot at Christmas time! The windows are wonderful and all the lights! Congratulations on the new baby! I have 2 sons that live in downtown Seattle. I remember all the spit spots on the sidewalk when I was a kid. We use to take the ferry over, go to the Farmers Market and Woodland Park Zoo. So many great memories! Stop by and visit me sometime!

I've been reading your blog for forever, and didn't realize you were from around here! Hi!

You know what's worse than a tictac? My daughter picked up a chunk of salt (or whatever chemical!) that they use to keep the sidewalks from freezing, and popped it in her mouth before I had time to react. Ack! We rinsed and spit, and rinsed and spit, and etc. Yuck!!

It is magical isn't it? To live in Seattle one day would be the ultimate dream...I'd be happy just to ferry over and work there everyday!

We were there on the 10th! It was beautiful! But then we didn't eat at McDonald's, or eat tic-tacs off of the street and no one threw a tantrum in Nordstroms (you didn't say if that was YOU or your son though), didn't see anyone peeing in public nor did we get a parking ticket. Hubby did get a little miffed when we got lost trying to get back to the freeway but I will tell him about YOUR day and he will feel so much better about that small inconvenience. I LOVE living in the country but when I visit a big city I could almost be talked into...
Where is the picture of you son taken??

I spent yesterday in downtown Austin and also had a gross breakfast at McDonalds! We went to the Nature Center and played in the river with the hum of the freeway in the background. Naturey!

What a great idea to go spend a night in Seattle. We should do that. I don't know if my hubby would want to because he works there and the last thing he would want to do is go back into the city. I think it would be fun!
