Please tell me your next couple of months are as crazy as mine.
We are moving back to Cleveland for grad school. Ben and I fly there this afternoon to meet my husband who has been there the past month looking for a house. I’m halfway excited and halfway dreading the move, but mostly I’m not excited to unpack again ( while being HUGE!), and leave all our family here. So please forgive me if I’m a little absent on this blog for the next little while. Hopefully I’ll be able to check in if I haven’t totally lost my marbles by then. And just in case you weren’t sure I was totally insane, I started another quilt yesterday…..see? Insane.
These little whirlygiggs are made using this pattern. ( I’m blaming this quilt on you Camille!) They are such cute little blocks measuring 3.5” each, plus the charm pack is my favorite, Recess by American Jane. Its a dangerous combo for one who would rather be sewing than packing. :)

I'm just jealous that you get to move to Cleveland... I have a sister (and her fam) out there that I miss terribly.

You can do it! And don't stop sewing - I believe it helps you accomplish more and keeps you from going crazy! Have fun and enjoy this time as you are making memories.

it is always easy to find a project to work on when you should be cleaning or packing!! i have been there. that is a really big list!! i am trying to lose weight to get pregnant so that i can gain it again...how backward is that?

I feel your pain! I'm going to be having my 2nd baby boy in March. The same week that we will find out where my husband matched for his residency program and then we will have to pack up, sell our current house and find a new place before the end of May all with a newborn and a 2 yr old in tow. Please tell me how you manage to survive and pass along any tips you come across along the way. (the worst part is I can't start preparing at all until we find out because there is a chance we might stay here- so I sit... in limbo)

It looks like you have quite a "to do list" coming up. Although it will be crazy busy, it also sounds amazing!
My two cents on the potty training - don't stress yourself (and Ben) out with trying to potty train and move at the same time - that's a lot of change. When the baby comes, ask him to help you - get the diapers, wipes, throw them away, etc. It won't take long for him to associated babies and diapers and he'll be ready in no time to pt. That worked with my son. With my daughter, I occasionally asked her if she wanted to try, starting around 2.5 with little or no interest. At 3yr 4mos, I asked her if she thought she was ready to start wearing the Tinkerbell underwear we had bought. She was immediately interested and I explained she had to use the potty all day and she agreed. She had two days of complete success and 1 accident on the 3rd day. Three months later, she's only had 3-4 accidents and is doing great! I don't know how Ben feels about it but I always say, when they are really ready, no matter what it is, it makes it SOOOO much easier. Good luck with everything! =)

I was going to make the same comment about potty training. It's probably too much change all at once.
Consider your quilt adventure a SANITY BREAK. Quilt therapy. 100% necessary.

You are going to be busy Allison! Just make sure you take some time to breath just for you! Especially with baby being so close n all. My list which looked just like your's a year ago made me go into labour 5 weeks early! So you just make sure you put your feet up when you need to. Delegate. This year is crazy for us too. We've got a bazillion things on. Including a thirtieth, a twentyfirst, a wedding, a new nephew or niece, christenings, more weddings, toilet training... Hopefully no more babies though :)

Good luck! It sounds like you are going to be super busy! I can't imagine moving that far while being pregnant.
God luck with your move. I moved when I was 5 months pregnant and that was bad enough. I got really bad head spins bending over the boxes to unpack. On the plus side there is nothing like a bit of sewing/creating therapy to distract you.
That's quite a lot for 7 weeks! Especially when you're about to have a baby! Good luck :)
Wow, what a list! If it helps, I just had a baby 9 weeks ago and my 2.5 year old boy decided he was ready to potty train when the baby was 2 weeks old (!). We had 10 days of accidents and a LOT of clearing up, and now he's cracked it and it was all worth it. I found that bribery with chocolate worked a treat - I know that breaks all the rules, but given the circumstances I'm not beating myself up about it!
I have never seen such a list. Good Luck and take Care of yourself!!!
Holy cow! Hang in there. I can't wait for potty training--my 29 month old doesn't care if he has a dirty diaper. I think it might be a long road. ;-)

My to do list is just as insane, although I'm not having my baby for another 18 weeks (hopefully). Oh and moving to Cleveland is awesome!!! I moved from NJ to about 20 miles south of Cleveland 1.5 yrs ago so good luck! Enjoy the cold weather and beautiful Lake Erie.

Moving when pregnant- not fun. Moving to the snow belt in the middle of winter while pregnant- very very not fun!! I grew up just south of Cleveland and now live in Columbus. The weather is so much better down here! Welcome back to Ohio anyway :)

I just finished the top of my own pint-sized Wild Things. Those tiny blocks were almost the death of me (obviously I'm not an expert quilter like yourself!). I love the fabric you chose so much.
WOW!! What an exciting 7 weeks! (aside from the potty training, I have two boys, one PT'ed, one to go) I don't know how you find time to sew and blog, but I'm sure glad you do! I just love everything you do! Right now I am re-doing my pillows in my living room using your raw edge cirle technique. They are SO fun! Having 3 boys, well all I can say is don't sweat the potty training. Our middle son was 3 yrs and 3 months old before he decided he was ready to be potty trained. We had worked on it earlier but when he realized I was pregnant that was it.. NO more potty training for him! A total revolt!! Once his baby brother was born he decided he wasn't a baby and was ready to go potty. He loved the superman underwear we bought. Yes it took a little time but you will be surprised at how quickly it will go once he is ready. Just remember he won't start school w/ a diaper bag!! (Sage advice from my MIl)

Mine are crazy too...I am trying to get out of graduate school and graduate! It's also not easy when you should be writing and would rather be sewing, crocheting and other more fun things. GOOD LUCK!
That is a big list! Good luck. We recently potty trained our son. I loved the Imse Vimse Training Pants. They are about $14 a pair but they work really well and I used them for two kids and they've held up beautifully. I suggest buying 3 pair and then regular underwear and just using those and not pullups. The potty fairy came and took all the diapers away once I knew he was doing well and he left a card and new underwear. He wasn't happy at first but it was nice that we weren't the ones that took them away. The training underwear work well since they hold more pee than regular or even the thicker underpants and still tell them they are wet. The kids were always more confident wearing them and so was I. We only use the pull ups at night and put on big boy underpants right away in the morning. Also, if you are into rewards, every time he put something in the potty he got a mini marshmallow. GOOD LUCK!
Dont listen to people if they say boys are hard to potty train. My was potty trained before his third birthday ( and baby number two). The key, let them sit first. (less scary, more balance).

This is an incredibly long list! I would drive me crazy. I would feel like not wanting to do anything at all since it is simply too much.
Some of them just have to be done. But if it drives you nuts, may I suggest to skip a few party's like Valentine. And celebrate those two birthdays on the day that is your sons birthday? Especially with a baby on its way, you will need time to prepare and takes it easy too!

Well.. I have to paint, put flooring into, decorate and move furniture to make the new floor on our house livable. This will have to happen BEFORE I have the baby who is causing a ruckus in my tummy right now (kiddo #4) because otherwise he'll literally have nowhere to lay his little head. I have to find a new dentist, and plan a really good surprise for my husband on our first-date anniversary soon because he did something ridiculously elaborate last year.
I do have a dishwasher, but I don't have a wash dryer... so maybe I can say I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL! haha
I'm sure we'll both hang in there, have a few crises, pick up the pieces and look back on it all with very warm fuzzy feelings indeed ;)
