I can only quilt three rows or so before I’m majorly bored and distracted….which is probably why straight stitch quilting takes me FOREVER. (and why I’m writing this post instead)
By the way, your comments to my last post…..HILARIOUS! We were laughing our heads off….I’m glad everybody’s kids go through a “lets take back the baby” phase. Thanks for making my day!

must ask since i keep having trouble with straight line quilting - how do you baste? spray or pins? i have had huge puckering issues with pinning....
I know what you mean about it getting boring! I always get excited though thinking that the quilt is almost done.
Love the quilt you're working on...I made two with the Wheels Fabric for my two little boys (4 & 2). And yse I agree that the straight stitching is boring, that why I only do about 2 rows...one on each side of the ditch, sometimes one in the ditch...make it go by a lot faster.
Anyways, I can't wait to see the finished quilts...all I've got left is the binding...hopefully they'll be done by this weekend...fingers crossed!
I'm working with Wheels fabric too! :) It's cute stuff.
And yea, straight quilting is boring... but it looks so good when it's done!
I always listen to an audiobook while quilting...it helps with the boredom especially on the straight-line quilting! And I read that last post to my hubby and we both laughed...we have 4 and we still talk about how our oldest wishes he was an only child!
Yes, that straight-line quilting is KILLER boring. Ugh. And yet I like the look when it's done. It just seems to take forever!
okay - that itty bitty bit of quilt in your photo is AMAZING! can't wait to see the rest. Hurry Up!
I love that happy quilt!! The colors are great!
I love the Wheels quilt!
haha I LOVE this post! I finished a straight line quilt last month and that's how I felt. My mom asked about it and it went likt thi: "well how long did it take you to quilt it?" "3 weeks" "what? for how long, how many times a week?" "ok, so it was 5 minutes a few times a week... so really maybe an hour and a half total."
I'm not a big fan of straight line quilting for that reason exactly! It's just a big snoozefest.
Boring maybe, but beautiful. Keep at it.

You need to put some of your favourite music on and turn on the auto pilot.
I am quilting in the ditch on my queen sized quilt and I am finding it boring to. I am glad I'm not the only one. :)
it took me 9 months to finish a spiderweb quilt....the top took me around 6 weeks, and the rest of the time was the endless lines of quilting. I was ready to cry with it at times. Think of the finish (yeh, like that's any help!!!)
So true! I just finished quilting part of my quilt with straight lines and I thought I'd never finish! But I LOVE the way it looks afterward, so it's worth it! Also love Wheels fabric. Just made a quilt with that too. Have fun!
Love the Fabrics they are Gorgeous...maybe Boring but looks Fabulous when finished...keep that in mind....
cheers
I've discovered Super Boring, which is straight line quilting by hand! I love the look of straight line quilting, but I seem to skip about on the lines, so the result isn't very good. Yours looks wonderful, hang in there!
Yes, tedious, but beautiful in the end.
It may be boring, but it is adorable!!! That should make up for at least half the boring!!! :)
Oh my goodness! Can't wait to see that finished!!! But I understand, I have a quilt I am staight stitching...been working on it for about two months. LOL!
I hear ya on straight quilting, but that is going to be one cute quilt!! I cannot wait to see the finished product. I am in love with those fabrics.
Love your color choices on that one! Ok, you have to finish it! It's gorgeous!
Hugs,
Gina
machine quilting is the most tedious part of the quilt, if you ask me. i wish it went so much faster!
the quilt is going to be great! looking forward to seeing it finished!

I have to agree that it's a little boring. I'm just so anxious to be done at that point, I just keep pushing on!
I'm just about done with two baby quilts with that same Riley Blake fabric... isn't it just adorable for little boys?
This sneak peak looks gorgeous!!! Can't wait to see the end result. I am busy with my first quilt, and am already planning my second. I want to make one for my 3 year old son. That fabric is stunning. Wish we got it here in SA. What pattern are you using???
You have much more patience that I do, I get bored at the cutting stage of quilting! Hey, nice Bernina, love that walking foot.
Never done straight stitch quilting before. Bet you are right that it is boring. It does look vrey nice . Keep at it and it be soon finished.
I am desperate to find out what the fabric under you quilting foot is? the orange/white/ dark geo print.... What is that?
I need your expert advice! I am currently working on a pieced quilt about 60 inches square. I would like to machine quilt this on my home machine but want to know if I should baste it first??? Do you, and how do you, pin or stitch?
That car fabric for your backing is SUPER cute! What is it?
I'm love all your projects. You're really talented and this blog is a perfect place to show off your work! Thanks for the inspiration! Pam @ Sallygoodin
It's so cute. HOW do you keep those rows so straight? I even have a guide on my machine and once I iron, well, the strips are a wee bit wonky. Ugh!
And I thought it was just me! I am working on a quilted seat cushion right now -- and I keep asking myself why I want to do the straight line quilting. My answer agrees with some of the previous comments -- because it looks so nice when it is finished. Besides that it is mindless and I can think about a bazillion other things while I am doing it!
