I’ve been laying low in the sewing department…..except for a handful of appliquéd onesies I made a few nights ago. I bought size 6-9 months thinking they’d be roomy enough for my 3 month old….and they are TIGHT! This brand always seems to run a size or two small though….or maybe its my chunky baby? Probably both.

Here is the graphic I used for my dog onesie. To make one…. iron your fabric to double sided fusible web (like heat n’ bond) then hold up the fabric to the computer screen and you should be able to see through the fabric well enough to trace the dog onto the fusible web paper. Then cut out your dog, peel off the paper, iron it to the shirt and sew around (the tricky part!).

No, you are right. Gerber onesies run way small. I have to buy a few sizes bigger.
Cute projects, though. I especially like the car one.
Cute onesies!
I've got a chunky guy and even when the Gerber onesies fit lengthwise, they cut into his legs. He was wearing 12 month ones at 4 months! I've found the Circo brand at Target to be my favorite. Very soft, and cut more generously.
Love the pooch, might have to make one of those for every baby I know! x
i have a chubbstar and shes been in 6-12mth sizes since she was bout 3mths old (including pumpkin patch clothes) everything is now made overseas...well thats my excuse for having a big baby.lol
So cute! I especially like the doggie with the KJR fabric...very sweet!
really cute shirts, I love quick projects like that. :)
Love the pooch! Such a great idea that can be applied to many projects....thanks for sharing!
I love these! When you sew around the edges does the bottom part rub on your baby's skin?
I love the road fabric you have used.
Great onesies. I have the opposite--my 8 month old fits into 3 month onesies. Her drawers are filled to overflowing--its dress up everyday. :)
darling onesies!! my chubby baby at 3 mos. was called phenomonally large by the dr. since he was at the top of height and weight charts. my mother thought that was a rude comment. he also said he was anemic--think he had to figure something was wrong since i only breast fed him!! now at 36 he's 6 foot 4 and not chubby!
They are so adorable!! xx
Love it how cute.
My favorite one is the dog but love the car material one too.
I love these! I have a baby shower this weekend. I may have to try these out!
They're really nice! My baby is the exact opposite, she's a tiny thing.
Wow... I have no kiddos, but I am loving your work and will definitely pass it on to my friends who do! You are very talented with an adorable blog to tie it all in! Hope you're having a great week!
Chunky babies are my favorite kind--if you have ever seen a skinny, sickly one you will never regret your round and healthy one. My Young Son, now 12, was such a happy, round baby. We pretty much went up 2-3 sizes for his age all the time, and we still do. At 12 he fairly lean and wearing Mens Medium/Large shirts. But, he is a happy boy/man still.
Those are sooo cute! Gerber onesies were always too tight for mine, too. Carters make them just right for little chunksters.
In defense of skinny babies...not all skinny babies are sickly. Since the Gerber ones are running small on your child, try Carters onesies. They are a bit more generous in both width and length.
There's something wonderful about a pudgy, squishy baby!
Gerber onesies run really small!
