Wild thing

My Mom & I worked on this quilt while I was visiting home.  Its made from a Hello Betty layer cake.  I love that line (its discontinued), especially the grey. I made this quilt from it…but I still wish I had more of that pretty grey floral.  The pattern is Camille’s Wild Thing Pattern

(Now that I look at this picture Seattle looks like a little blurry hill)

Thanks for all the preschool starting well wishes.  I tried to act like I was really sad he was leaving me for three hours but really I was doing cartwheels in my head.  I’m sure I’ll feel differently when he’s gone all day… but for now, I’m glad he enjoys school and I get a break from his 3 year old-ness.  Cause his 3 year old-ness is driving me BONKERS!

There is no shame in being happy that he is at pre-school ;-) He is probably just as happy being on his own...as you are that you get some alone time. Enjoy it!!

ooo. love love it! those fabrics are just so cool. I totally understand the 3 year old-ness. Somehow it keeps continuing to a different kind of bonkers as a 4 year old. Aren't kids the craziest things to try and figure out sometimes?

I love the idea of quilting with your Mom. It makes me want to go do the same. What a wonderful way to spend your time. This quilt turned out beautifully! Whenever I read your blog it makes me want to sew and I love that!

Whoever said it was terrible twos was kidding themselves. It's definitely terrible threes in my opinion.

Oh my gosh, I just made a quilt top with that exact same fabric I got at a shop hop in Utah this summer (I think it was a Honey Bun). I still need fabric for the backing, so if you have any idea where to get more, would you please email me at: julienash@aol.com Thank you so much!

I got almost three year oldness, and a daughter who is 18 month oldness who likes to copy her brother, who is almost three year oldness. It is a vicious, hilarious cycle. No wonder I found a grey hair:)

I work with 17 3/4 year olds. Yup... I am a little crazier for it too.

I am glad I am not the only one that does cartwheels in my head when I get to drop my two year old at the baby sitters! You miss them but...you're so thankful for the nice little break too!

Love it! I'm just finishing a quilt made from a Hello Betty charm pack. I'm not a fan of the pastels in the pack, but I love the grays and teals!

I was doing cartwheels, too (mostly). And I agree...I am going through my third round of "3 year old-ness" and it is tough terrain!

Very pretty! I was thrilled when my kids started preschool--and even more thrilled for kindergarten! I totally understand.

That was a fun pattern to make...I made one using charms, so they're a bit smaller than yours. Love the fabric you used!

Glad you have some 'me' time away from your wee one! :)

Love this pattern! I have the pattern too and need to get around to making it.

I have a 3-year-old too, so I know exactly what you mean! Preschool is a nice break. Enjoy it!

Just so you know, the 3 year oldness, when combined with knowledge and confidence gained from a school like setting, is even more maddening. Especailly when they become 4. :o)

Happy sewing and wishing Ben tons of fun at preschool!

I love your quilt. You sound like my sister when you said you like having time to be away from your 3year old. She loves her girls dearly but couldn't be a stay at home mom because they would drive her nuts.

HAHAHA - I laughed out loud when I read the last line of your post! With a four year old and an almost three year old, I am so THERE with you!

i'm a grandma now, but boy do i remember my son's 3 year oldness!! the blessing for me was being asked to run a nursery during our women's church group--didn't want to but it was the best thing--found out my son was a marvelous little boy and so typically just a three year old!! now he's a 36 year old with his own 3 year old who's a totally three year old--it's just an age, but then aren't they all??? darling quilt by the way

I'm sure Eileen will agree with me, young moms cherish these days with them. Soon enough they'll be teenagers and you WISH they were still three LOL My dear little granddaughter just started pre-school this week also. Mommy's jumping for joy and Grammie's shedding silent tears!! PS-- I live in WA too, on the OTHER side.

Darling quilt! I felt the same way when my kids went to school....many, many years ago. I enjoyed the break and they were loving the new experience.

They should send 3 years olds to Guatanamo. It probably doesn't violate the Geneva Convention, but it can be sheer torture!

That grey is awesome!

and hurray for pre-school!

Oh how I *so* know what you mean! My twins Paul Thomas and Olivia are 3 and this is also their 1st year of preschool (2 days a week) and my little boy is defintely driving me BONKERS and GRAY headed....! We only have one week behind us so far... I'm hoping it will get better.... I say this b/c I volunteered to help be their teacher this year! What was I thinking? LOL

so on your days along please think of me and sew some for me ;) b/c I can't.... although I'm already looking forward till they are in Kindergarten then I can assign one day a week that I do NOTHING except sew! :D

Old Country Store fabrics still carries the Hello Betty fabric if you are still interested. It really is a nice fabric and I can see why you like it so much.

Love the quilt! I am with you on the preschool thing too. How did our mothers survive without preschool? I used your tutorial to make me some fabulous pillows, here is the link
http://ginghamworld.blogspot.com/2010/09/pillows.html

They have been so popular with my friends I have thought of making a few for my etsy shop but I wanted to make sure that was okay with you since I used your ideas. If you have a minute let me know if that would bother you. Thanks! Have a great Sunday!
