Chain Reaction Quilt & Pattern

The tutorial for this one is in my etsy shop now.  I started this quilt and wrote out the pattern a long time ago (pre-baby when I had time!) and finally got the the quilt all quilted & washed yesterday.  Its a perfect size for a crib/ toddler quilt…this one is going to be a couch quilt for my boys.   I’ve been saving up these scraps of fabrics to make an eye spy quilt, so its nice to finally get them out of my stash and into a quilt!  The solids in this quilt are Kona Solids in White & Aqua. 

This quilt tutorial is meant for beginning to intermediate sewers.  There are some small strips in it, so some knowledge of piecing & squaring will be helpful.  I backed this one with yellow striped flannel from Joann’s, I love the weight flannel gives to a washed quilt….they are extra cozy!

Something Sewn

That’s me for you curious minds out there.  Also you guys way over-estimated my painting skills with the buffet….I really can’t take credit for it since my hubby did it all.   I find that bribery works equally well for 3 year olds and 29 year olds.   Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

The Buffet

So, I’ve wanted a buffet for awhile now and when I came across this baby at the thrift store….it had to be mine.  I got the good ol’ husband eyebrow raise, but once I mentioned that a flat screen TV would fit nicely on top (someday) it was quickly loaded into the back of our car.

After a LOT of sanding, and a few coats of paint (none of which was done by me…ok maybe one coat), it now fits nicely in our living room.  Except now I need a cute lamp (0r two) for the top. 

Filled with a few quilts nonetheless, and plenty of room for more.

Happy National Quilt Day

In celebration of today I bought some fabric…

Mostly from the new Hunky Dory line by Chez Moi for Moda.  Its super springy and super cute.  Happy National Quilt Day!!

Craving…

1.  Some Zzzzzzzzzz’s.

Actually Ryan’s been a pretty good sleeper, so I can’t complain too much.

2.  A little bit of  Whimsy, by Fig Tree Quilts @ the Fat Quarter Shop.  I love that ric-rac fabric. 

3.   My favorite jeans.   I gained lots of weight this pregnancy….not sure how though since all I’ve had to eat the past couple of months is eggs.   The kind of eggs that come in a purple bag.   Which is why my old jeans will have to wait until June July.

4.  New fabric.  I am sick of my fabric.  Maybe if I folded it I would like it better, but for now its still in post moving piles like this one…..yikes.

Thank you for all your baby well wishes!  I loved reading all your comments.  We are doing great and adjusting pretty well to having a newborn around again.  I even got some sewing done this afternoon in between changing the baby’s outfit three times.  I forgot how many clothes & diapers newborns go through. :)  Thanks again for saying hello and stopping by this blog….you guys make my day!

I’m super busy

Eating him up & kissing these neck rolls. 

Ryan was born on Thursday after a fast and easy labor/delivery.  He weighed 8 lbs. 10 oz. and is sweet and mushy as can be.  The only problem is he’ll be bigger tomorrow, which means I better get back to kissing his cheeks!

I’m on the verge of dorky since I made this blanket to match the baby shoes, but I had all this cute fabric lying around so I figured why not?   Plus I needed a quick patchwork project to tie me over while I’m SLOWLY working on bigger projects.  I’m not a sit around, take it easy kind of person…so being 39 weeks pregnant really cramps my style.  

These squares are 6" cut.  I sewed 5 blocks per row, with 6 rows, so its a perfect baby size.  I sewed it together with the back pillowcase style and topstitched it, so it really was a quick sewing project.  Plus with those minky squares in there and a soft flannel back, its very snuggle worthy too. 

Chair Redo

Way back in June…I bought this beauty for $6.

And then it sat, and sat, and finally it got a makeover thanks to my sweet hubby.

I still want to distress it, and touch up the legs..but for now I’m extra pleased with my thrift store chair.   Plus it was a heck of a lot cheaper than these at Pottery Barn.  Gotta love that!

Raw Edge Pillow Shams

I have to share these adorable pillow shams my crafty friend Jenny made for her kids bunk beds using the Raw Edge Circle Quilt Tutorial. 

Aren’t they cute?  I want a tutorial on how to make pillow shams!  Good job Jen,  and lets be neighbors in like 3 years k?

Baby Shoes

Last week after seeing these shoes on Made by Rae….I had to have them.  I even had the fabric.  The pattern is by Joanna and it is fabulous!  The pattern can be downloaded here.  It will definitely be filed under my favorites. 

I didn’t interface these like the pattern called for, but they are lined with soft Minky and I think the extra thickness is just enough without interfacing.  The only problem is now I want my own (mammoth) sized pair!

Blue…the color of my living room wall (s).  It makes me happy every morning.  The color is Better Homes & Garden # 105 from Walmart.  Don’t look at my curtains ( I said don’t look!)  I’m pretty sure that’s a decorating sin of some sort but they have no hope of being fixed soon.

And a Big Big Belly…..in my jammies.  I think this belly has outgrown all but 2 of my maternity shirts in the last week.
