Hanging out

I gave myself a mini vacation from this blog and ALL blog reading last week…it works wonders.  Every six months or so I get burnt out of blogging and reading blogs.  I love reading super-duper-awesome blogs…but I don’t love the not-so-super-duper feelings of discontentment that come along with it.  But then I take a break…and realize its all good.

I had hopes of finishing up this top last week….but its still hanging there giving me the evil eye.

And  just so you’re all aware….I still hold the record for The Worst Cinnamon Roll Maker in the World.   But if I ever need to make a cinnamon roll sheet cake I’ve got it made.

Ooh what a cool block - and great color arrangement

ummm for the record...I think my roommate already holds that title. You may need to have a bake off...or perhaps just be satisfied that there are more than likely worse rolls out there. hehehe

And I'm also really digging that quilt. It seems simple to make but has a great overall wow factor

welcome back!! and btw I think you ARE one of those super duper awesome blogs!! Love the quilt, really pretty colors and pattern. As for the cinnamon roll, as long as it tastes good that's all that really matters :-)

my Cinnamon rolls aren't very good either, just not doughy enough or something :(

Love the quilt! And glad to see you are back! I know I missed your blog!

Glad you are back and feel like the break was a good thing. A week off from reading blogs sound like a good thing. I'd get some things done for myself and they'd all be there in Reader at the end of the week. Hmmm...

Very pretty quilt! I love the zig zag design the blocks make.

Yum Yum Yum-O!!! everything you make is always so bright and cheery...I LOVE IT!!!! and the food looks great too!

Love that quilt! The blocks, the colors, everything! What is it called?

I'm curious -- when you take a break, do you go back and read all the posts you missed to catch up, or do you just go forward with new posts? I started my morning with 200+ unread items in my reader, and I have been working all day to get through them and catch up! Maybe tomorrow I will catch up on my own blog with a post... :)

As for the cinnamon rolls...have you tried the pioneer woman's recipe? maybe you'd have better luck? http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/06/cinammon_rolls_/

Love the quilt top! Super cute.

As long as you can close your eyes and it still tastes good, you are golden! :)

Love the quilt top, by the way. I've been staring at it and deciding how you made it, lol. Still working on that!

I actually gasped when I saw that quilt and am off to add yet another cool design to my list of things I want to make. Does the cinnamon 'roll' tast good? If so, then that's all that matters! xx

Peggy said...

umm my dear...first your quilt is lovely! second... the cinnamon bun doesn't look bad at all. how does it taste? one of my closest friends holds the record for WORST cinnamon rolls. they were so hard they could not be cut after they came out of the pan. we laughed so hard we had tears running off our faces when her husband suggested using the chain saw. (she has a new oven now and that has helped some plus she has started using the pioneer woman's recipe...)

Looks fab and I bet the scolls tasted good still

What a pretty quilt top! What is that block called? Your colors are wonderful. And I've never even ventured to try to make cinnamon rolls. I think any cinnamon roll is better than none at all!

Cute quilt and love the cinnamon sheet cake idea, you get bigger pieces!!

gorgeous quilt...
and The Hungry Crafter is right-- try out the Pioneer Woman's cinnamon roll recipe. It's delicious ( I leave out the expresso from the frosting) and super super easy. But be warned, it yields 40-50 rolls. Might be worth cutting the recipe in half.

really gorgeous quilt...

Your quilt is really great, I hope you finish it. You should have my husband teach you to make cinnamon rolls if you think you are bad at it.

I love the colors in this quilt, so calming! Loving the gray trend these days!

Welcome back! Really love your quilt. I need to get off my rear and start back up. Everyone is showing such great projects lately! The cinnamon rolls? they look okay to me. :)

Taking a week off from blogs is such a great idea. Sometimes all the stuff out there stops being inspiring and just starts being really, really overwhelming! (I think I'm about due for a blog reading break myself!)

Love that quilt top! It's got great movement. Complex looking but really farely simple construction - love it! Jenn Oh and your cinnamon roll/tort - looks delish!

Kelly said...

sorry about that cinnamon roll, but that really made me giggle. I once made chocolate chip cookies that were less than 1/8 in tall.

Sew Sane Jane said...

Cinnamon rolls I can do, making such a cute, modern, sophisticated quilt pattern I cannot. Let's switch abilities for a day just to see how it feels on the "greener" side!. Thanks for another cute idea that I will probably try to replicate!

Cecilia said...

Love, love, love the quilt top! I was not good with dough that requires yeast, but I conquered it! I used Pioneer Woman's cinnamon roll recipe and it took four tries in one week before I got it right! The secret: use a thermometer to make sure the milk is the perfect temperature for the yeast.

dotscharm said...

Mmm, Mmmm, mmmmm! That looks yummy delicious! And the cinnamon roll thingy looks good, too. :-)
