Is bad for the bank account.
I was doing so well resisting these perfect circles until I saw them popping up on blogs. After seeing that perfect green for the third time I had it in my cart and ordered before my brain caught up to the hand controlling the mouse. Luckily these did not disappoint…they are perfect. You can find them here or here.
I love looking at new blog posts in the actual blog vs a reader. But I love my google reader. Luckily I just learned pretty much the best thing ever since butter in a tub (ok maybe not but still)… if you go to your google reader, hit settings in the upper right corner—>reader settings--->goodies---> put reader in a bookmark, and drag that little box that says “next” to your bookmark toolbar….you can hit that next button and it will take you from blog to blog in your reader. So you see the new posts on the actual blogs. Its so fun…and when you get to the end of your reader you’ll see that page in the picture up there telling you it’s the end. Its awesome.
Last but not least, I had to show you this amazing quilt Amber made with the Kaleidoscope pattern to auction off for the benefit of this family. You’ll be able to find the auction details on Amber’s site soon.

Hallelujah! I just installed my next button. Thank you! I use google reader to keep up with lots of blogs and I've really missed reading the actual blog. I am so happy you shared this today. Yahooie!!! : )
What a nifty little reader tip! Thanks so much for sharing it!
Thanks for the tip about the reader! Great!
Lovely quilt. I am proud of you for resisting as long as you did!
I will definitely be doing the reader trick. I find when I read blogs on reader I cant keep who's who straight. Thanks! And I've gotta get me some of that fabric too! I've been drooling over it for a couple of weeks now.
Thanks for the reader tip. Although it’s probably going to get me in even more trouble with buying fabric and following more blogs…
You can set up that bookmark for just one tag of your reader, too, in case you have a bunch of stuff in your reader that you don't need to see in its original form (like Flickr feeds). You just need to put everything in a "readme" tag, or something similar, and then do the bookmark for just that tag. I discovered that a few months back and it is fabulous!
Great button!! Now I can surf more easily with the laptop on the kitchen counter. Thanks!
OMG! This is great! Thanks for the tip and also encouraging me to get this Metro living line.
I love google reader too! It's so awesome to see all the new posts in one place. I go to the actual blog too to read the post. I think bloggers create beautiful worlds using their blogs and it's important to see the post in it's 'natural' environment :P. BTW I LOVE that quilt pattern you have. Beautiful work as always :).
that's awesome! thanks for sharing your tech tip!
Could you do a post about your favorite blogs? I'm always looking for new fuel for my addiction! :)
I am so in love with those dot fabrics! And that quilt is beautiful!! Great job Amber!
Nice! Just added the next button to my browser as well -- thanks so much for sharing the tip! I have a whole system of starring and tagging posts I want to save, so I'll have to figure out how to incorporate that, but I'm really liking this concept!
Thank you so much for the google reader tip. Way more fun to see the actual blog, isn't it?? Love Amber's quilt.
Are you kidding me? Where has that been all of my life. Thanks so much for sharing. That will save so much clicking. Thanks, you're a peach.
It really works, I just did it twice. :) Happy weekend.
Sweet! Thank you!
If you haven't already you might want to check out pinterest.com I saw it on this post at oliverands http://www.oliverands.com/blog/2011/02/do-you-pinterest.html It is like an online bulletin board and you add a "pin it" tab to your bookmarks and pin any picture you like on the web.
that is a great tip. Thanks. And you are correct that reading blogs and seeing fabric is horrible for my bank account, but good therapy for my senses.
Thanks. I just did it and it worked like a charm.
Amber (a different amber)
Love the fabric colors! Can't wait to see them in action!
bless you bless you bless you! i love my next button! it is like Christmas every time i click on it, not sure what it will be but it is fun every single time!
Oh my goodness this reader tip just rocked my world. Love it!
I have been complaining forever about how I want to read blogs on their pages but how I am too lazy to click through. You are my hero.
No - you were right... it is the best thing since!!! Wow, love that! Thanks for the tip.
And, its okay - there is no shame in purchasing fabric. After all, it is a NECESSARY thing. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for sharing that tip- I like to see the actual blog when I use reader, so this is great!
Blog party at house!!! Best bloggy tip I have ever gotten!
yay - now I can comment. well, I guess I could before, just to lazy I guess. I know, sad - but true ;o)
"searching the internet is bad"......yep, it can be addicting. The only cure that I've found, so far, is a trip to the local fabric store! =P

awesome tip for google reader - thanks!
Oh, I love my Google reader, but this sounds AMAZING - I can't wait to try it. THANK YOU so much for the tip!
I'll join the legions of thankful readers who were missing see the posts in their true form. Thank you!
What a tip! Thank you! This rocks my blog world. :)
Love the next button! I put my followed blogs in folders in google reader (sewing, scrapbooking, etc) and I can generate a next button for each category. That way if I am in the mood to look at paper crafts, I use that next button and if I'm in the mood to look at sewing, I use that one. LOVE it. :D
Stop with the wonderful fabric! I love it!
The "Next" button is my favorite-poison...it makes blog reading too easy.

Thank you so much for sharing the reader tip ... just what I needed!! Love your comment about blog reading being expensive ... preaching, choir :)
Oh my, that "next" tip just changed my life. I may actually face my google reader again now!
I have to get some of that Metrolife. I've been so diligent about not buying fabric, but I may just cave for that collection.
I love that "next" button! I can spend way too much time reading "just one more" blog - and every once in a while I get to the end.
Ooh, that is a good trick! I've been merrily opening more or less every blog in my Reader in a new tab (including this one, just now), so I can see the post in situ (why IS that so much more fun than seeing them in Google Reader?) and now there's a better option!
And that does look like a good green - I have such a tiny selection of green in my stash - it always seems to come in varying shades of either sludge or pastel.
I totally agree about reading blogs and spending money. I see so many things I HAVE to have and my fingers move quicker than my will power. Yikes!
Thanks for the great tip on the "next" feature. I also prefer to read blogs at the blog. Thanks!
holy crap! that is the coolest trick ever. thanks for telling us! so much easier than opening each blog you want to comment to.
I adore those circle fabrics! thank you so much for sharing!
awesome tip!! so much more fun to look at the actual blog
I love those fabrics - especially the green. I might have to just have a little look.......!
Thanks for the Reader tip - it makes catching up with blog posts much easier.
{gasp!} I didn't know that about reader! This is fabulous! I'm so overwhelmed sometimes with my inbox list, this is great! I can add and see more blogs! :)
Kim at Kim's big quilting adventure got me last week...only I bought a watermelon pitcher! Beautiful quilts, btw!
Thanks for the reader tip. LOVE it!!
Wow, that is fantastic! :) Thanks for the tip!
Whoa!
Amber's quilt of the Kaleidoscope pattern really is! (a Kaleidoscope)
I thought the picture was changing size when all I was doing was scrolling down the page.
Quite dizzying it was. (And beautiful too.)
Cool button must load that!
Phew you've so many comments here but I just wanted to say you were on my list for a Stylish Blogger Award. xxx

I love the NEXT>> button! Thanks for sharing! It's much more fun to see everyone's blog and much easier to comment!
Oh, thank you, THANK YOU for sharing about the next button. I'm a visual person so I connect blogs with their headers and photos and that's one thing I miss when using Reader, but now I can have it both ways! You just made my day!!!
I love that little "Next Reader Item" in my toolbar in Chrome! :) I'm a new follower! I found you through AllFreeSewing's tutorial for a camera strap cover! :)

Awesome tip....thank you so much!!!!
I recently started a blog and I'm learning as I go along. I thought this would help me, but heck, I can't even figure out where to go to sign in to find my reader. I've been having blog updates sent to my e-mail account, and I'm overwhelmed with e-mails that come in every day. God forbid something happens and I can't sign in daily. Help!!! dmj53(at)hotmail(dot)com
Thanks for sharing a great blog/site. It is always great to find new quilting blogs.
