Thank you for all the baby-girl well wishes…we are excited (and nervous!) I’m not quite sure what to do with girls? It will be a fun adventure.
Today (besides being freezing) I’m getting the binding sewn onto this quilt…binding is torture for me lately…I’d rather fold laundry.
This pretty stack is sitting on my table (from the lovely Lissa) and I’m wondering when I’ll actually have time to cut into them…it could be awhile. For now they are just fun to stare at.
I’m on a mission today to get real snow boots…from a real shoe store (a.k.a. not Target). Because being lopsided, tall, and clumsy + snow is not a good combo for me….ever.
My friend Jera just barely got her pre-cut fabric shop up and running….so checkout Quilting in the Rain if you get a sec. I love the name of her shop since she’s in Seattle…and that she has some of my patterns in kits (with more to come).

I hate binding! But it looks like you use a wider strip for binding, which might make me less stabby! How wide do you cut your strips for a binding?
I wish I was cold! It's 83 in Houston today! YUCK!
Oh my heavens! I am swooning over that jelly roll of pezzy...where can I get some?! Did a quick google search and didn't come up with anything! P.S. That quilt is so so cute! Hope you find some warm boots soon! SMiles~Beth
Can you tell me what Moda fabric line the jelly roll is and the gray with the banner print. It is soooo cute and i need some.
Take it from me, you'll know exactly what to do with a little girl! This coming from someone who has three younger brothers, and two little boys, THEN a sweet baby girl. Just comes naturally, promise :)
Oh! Just when I thought I was all quilted out... the colours in that quilt are amazing! Thanks for the inspiration to go home from work and quilt (for me!) a little. :D
If I lived remotely close, I'd have you bring your bind-ables over to me. I find hand binding to be therapeutic, and a good excuse to catch up on anything I haven't watched on the pvr.
Beautiful quilt, by the way.
Oh - just give it to me! ...the binding-thing I mean... I love to do the binding. Really! It means the quilt is nearly ready and that's a great feeling - everytime!
And... there's nothing to worry about having a baby-girl. It'll all come naturally. But I understand your thoughts. I would have the same if I had a baby-boy :O)

I feel the same way with binding! my goal (in Jan and Feb) is to do a lot of binding for quilts! make a dent in those!
that fabric is sooo yummy to look at and thank you for sharing your friends fabric shop! (I like that name too!)
I can't wait to buy some of that Pez fabric! I missed out completely last time :(
I don't mind the stitching down the back - but that attaching binding to the front is just horrible, isn't it. I always think - hey, I'm pretty much done! And it ends up taking more than an hour to cut the strips, join, attach, miter... blech.
What is that cute fabric with the pennants on it?
If we have a boy this time around I've had the same thoughts - what do I do? I sort of understand my girls, but I'm not sure about boys anymore.
Yikes! Snow already!!! I'm in Delaware and I wore flip flops today.. I'm not ready for winter, not at ALL! I can't wait to see what you do with that fun jelly roll!
Beautiful! And that's pretty serious if you'd rather fold laundry!! lol
Be sure to stop in at Cranberry Morning and enter my 5-Bar Handcrafted SOAP'n'SUCH GIVEAWAY. Ends Friday night at 10 PM.
I love the hand stitching of binding, but don't enjoy the attaching it to the quilt part.
I'm in the same boat as you, but in regards to little boys :-P
yep, girls can be a real adventure!
I had 4 of them...all different, fun and...well, an adventure. =)
Send your binding "work" to me! I LUV to do bindings...they are almost my favorite part. =)

congrats on the girl!!! I have two (22 & 18 yrs old) and they are fun. Dress her in all the pretty clothes when she is little, cause when she gets bigger she won't let you have a say anymore :-), and when she gets into her teens, hold your breath and wait till she's about 18: they become nice again (at least, most of the time :-). but you'll never stop loving your beautiful girl!! And that quilt is beautiful too: I have some of that fabric and just love the richness of the colors!!
I'm improving on the basic binding but can't do the tails. I'd rather clean the bathroom than figure out the 45 on those tail ends. It's bad and I have the ruler too. But I love your blanket. Is it a new pattern? It is so pretty.
I'm a neophyte at binding so I empathize. As for boots... get thee to Payless... seriously, I have found crazy warm snow boots which really do last.

I hope you're going to show us that whole quilt (the one in the top pic). It looks gorgeous!
Love your blog, BTW. Love your colors, your tips, everything!
LOVE girl babies! With your love of pretty fabrics, you'll have a blast dressing her. :-)
I find sewing on the binding and hand-stitching it to the back very relaxing. :)
I love my pair of Sorel snow boots, I have a pair of white ones and a plaid Tivoli pair...love the plaid.
Congrats on your little girl, I had a friend that had two boys and she said she'd keep trying until she had a girl...luckily for her the 3rd was a girl. :)
Fold my washing and ill bind ur quilts!
Hey I want to know what that layer cake is with the bunting!!! Adorable!!! Can't wait to see what you do with that pez fabric. I need to get some of that for sure!!!
Beautiful colors on that quilt! Gorgeous! And you will LOVE having a girl. She will appreciate the beautiful colors right along with you one day!
That quilt is looking awesome! Binding is so tedious. I'm totally with you on that. I should have made the binding on my last quilt fatter. It was a donation quilt, so when the binding wasn't caught by all of the stitches, I just had to say "Forget it!" and stitch down the middle of the binding. Ugh. Next time I'll make sure my binding is more in the 2.5" range.
OK, so I am not alone....need to know what the banner fabric is and the what the pez is called! PLEASE!!! There are NO fabric stores by me that carry cool fabric so I am left to shop online, which is SO HARD! Thanks for your help!
K
I third what Janae and Keri asked about the gray/banner fabric. Who, what, where?
I looked down and realized that I'm wearing those same boots. I thought that was funny. Good luck finding snow boots! I got some ages ago that are Ulu that are fantastic - just in case you see that brand.
Ohh Dear Really ExlentYours Blog.....
that brings up a funny memory about a girl hanging on to a truck door for her life after getting out and falling under it. If I am not mistaken you had the record for slipping on the ice. Ahhhh, good times.
