My sweet friend Jayme gave me this quilt last week for baby-on-the-way. I almost cried…it’s not very often that people give me a quilt. She’ll be mad at me that I blogged it…but it’s the law in my house that no quilts go un-blogged around here.
It was inspired by Vanessa’s pattern, and Coleen’s amazing totes.
She brought it over and told me how it wasn’t perfect and something about a mistake here or there…but I really really love it. A quilt isn’t a quilt without mistakes…and it is such a great reminder to me that receiving a quilt is really special. So thank you Jayme again…I love it and baby will too!

How wonderful that someone made a quilt for a quilter! Why is it that so few will do that? I think it's gorgeous, and you can tell her I said so (not that she'll care about someone she doesn't even know).
So thoughtful and beautiful. What a great friend that you have!
What a wonderful gift, I'm sure baby will love it.

I love it! I like how she through in the yellow. It is a beautiful quilt! It looks perfect!
Such a lovely and generous gift.
Very sweet!!!
Oh, that's such a wonderful quilt. Love it! The color combo is so sweet.
Every baby needs a quilt. What a lovely gift! This quilt will stay with the new addition forever! Great thought!
Aww..chweet :-)
This is gorgeous and how sweet! I must say that I love that dash of yellow on the front and that vibrant fabric on the back. love. love. love.
Very few people will be brave and make a quilt for a quilter, so kuddos to your friend. And because of that, it will be a most precious gift to you. It looks wonderfully cuddly!
Omg!!! What a wonderful surprise!!! You may have almost cried, but I'm crying right now! Dang mommy hormones. I can't wait to see that baby girl in this world, and she's gonna have the best mommy ever. And thank you for all the compliments! :)
It's lovely! Love the soft colors on the front with that pop of mustard. I have noticed it is very common for quilters to show their work and immediately point out their mistakes. I tell my customers to just say thank you when we tell them how beautiful it is and stop pointing out the problems. = ) I think we all want to do perfect work but you're right most hand made quilts have a mismatched seam or a cut off point. I know you and baby will enjoy it.
What a sweet surprise!!! There's nothing like a gift made from the heart to make someone happy!! Way to go Jayme! Way to go Allison!!
It's wonderful! Funny how we always seem to need to point out our mistakes, hey? I'm sure this gift will be well loved.
This quilt is just precious!
That is soooo sweet.
Really sweet quilt.
This is gorgeous! I am so in love with the colors. Mainly aqua and white...so gorgeous!! This is going on my to-do list.
So wonderful. That's a great friend.
Wow, it is BEAUTIFUL! I love the pattern & fabric she used.

What a thoughtful & special gift! It's nice to have something made for you sometimes :) Smiles~Beth
What a wonderful gift, true friendship :) x
I love it - it is a wonderful quilt and a very thoughtful gift.
That is adorable!
That is an awesome quilt! I so agree with you, mistakes make it a handmade, made with love, even while my life was crazy, amazing gift! Everytime I was given a quilt for my daughter I would hear "don't look too close, there are so many mistakes" I didn't look, and even if I found one, I loved it!
Love It!! She did a great job and the one yellow bit...very nice touch!
Why is it that us hand-makers often get left out of hand-made gifting? I think we appreciate it more than others! That is a beautiful quilt, too! That is a great friend, your baby girl will love it :)
this is fantastic!
So sweet!
What a beautiful quilt and thoughtful gift! A friend to treasure...
It is both lovely and thoughtful. And what is handmade that doesn't have a "flaw" better known as the mark of handmade.
Congrats!
Gorgeous quilt...and already loved too. Awesome gift indeed.
Thanks for sharing it, I *love* houndstooth! And she shouldn't be mad, so called "humility blocks" simply add interest and character to a quilt.
What a thoughtful friend. It is beautiful.
this quilt is beautiful! i love the pattern and the colors. so special to receive a quilt :o)
Oh my! What a cute quilt :-) I don't know why we're so hard on ourselves about the things that we make. What a beautiful handmade gift.
It is very beautiful! I sort of understand how she feels about giving a quilt to a quilter. It's imtimidating to say the least and even more so if the recipient is an excellent quilter. As most of us know though, it is the thought behind the quilt that is most important. Baby will love it!
What a thoughtful friend! Such a precious gift! I heart this sweet little quilt! Thank you for sharing! Penny in So CA
How lovely. This will be a treasure for sure, and possibly for many generations to come--I have my mom's baby quilt and it is one of my most precious possessions, the thing I would grab in a fire.
The baby will be blessed to be wrapped in so much love.
It's true.... what makes a quilt so special and beautiful is the mistakes.... there is so much beauty in imperfection.
I need a good tutorial on machine binding.... anyone know where I can find one that makes sense?
Aren't we awful about the imperfections in our work? When it's someone else's work, it's just got character or it's such a tiny mistake you can't believe that someone is pointing it out. When it's our 'flawed' work we consider scrapping the whole thing over a tweaked binding or uneven stitching from our poorly-feeding machine.
Tell your friend I think it's beautiful. And I love the houndstooth.
I love those colors and the fabric on the back! It's a lovely quilt. You are lucky to have such a great friend.
Wonderful quilt and tell Jayme she is getting a lot of internet hugs from people leaving comments! :)
I am very excited for you both.
Imperfection = I'm perfection. :)

It's so pretty! Congratulations! What a lovely friend to make such a sweet gift :)
when I give a quilt [& not too often!] I write this on a fabric scrap & stitch it to the quilt...those that sleep under a quilt sleep under a blanket of LOVE.....your quilt is beautiful & so is your friend for giving it to you; I miss my mom, as she's given me several
It is beautiful!
What a lovely baby quilt. I know that I quilt for everybody but until about two years ago no one had given me a quilt. I really treasure it.
That is so very special! How truly lucky and blessed you are! Gorgeous quilt!
How sweet!!! I really need to put a sign up in my craft room:
A quilt isn't a quilt without mistakes!!!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful gift!!

It's really beautiful! I love the soft colors.
that is the cutest thing ever! love the colors ~ perfect for girl or boy (but you're having a girl aren't you???) what a sweet friend.
I love your comment "a quilt isn't a quilt without mistakes.". So true!
Ooo how sweet. The quilt is really sweet and thoughtful.
That is really nice! I always have the same thought - that it is weird to give another quilter a quilt...but the quilts I've been making for my friend Anne's new baby make me realize that I shouldn't feel weird about it at all! Quilters understand better than non-quilters (most of the time) what a profoundly kind, wonderful, and time-consuming present a quilt can be. So who better to give such a kind gift!
That really is beautiful! And it looks perfect to me :).
