This year I resisted the urge to get out every Christmas nic- nack I’ve accumulated and kept things simple. Just a few quilts…
and some new pillow cases from Grandma…a new tradition in our house. Isn’t that fabric with the people cute? Not sure what it is but its cute!
We even got a much smaller tree….which still has ALL the big ornaments globbed in this section thanks to my helpful 4 year old…must fix that tonight after bed time.
Although I love all of my decorations…it is so nice to have out the things I really love instead of everything. Makes it a little more special (and a little less stressful).

I have that same people fabric! I was so surprised when I found it at JoAnn's (yes, I'm a snob)... no clue who the designer is. I had intended on making something out of it for this year but have a feeling it'll be waiting until next year... :)
Your house looks beautiful, by the way; less is more! :)
Snap, we have gone for a smaller tree and a few pieces around the house. The kids have their quilts and we have a few free standing decorations. I love Christmas so much! Love love love your quilt, the red and tan is amazing
Our Christmas is the exact same way. :o) And I'll tell ya, it sure feels nice. Calm and peaceful. :o)
Have a nice weekend.
Sincerely, Trish
That fabric is adorable! It's an Alexander Henry print called 'Merry Main Street' from his retro Christmas line. Love the simple Christmas :)
Love your decorations, especially that pillow!
You have the right idea! Let's see if I can do the same this year!
Beautiful christmasquilt!
Wow, I couldn't have felt more the exact same wa. I only have a few things. I just couldn't do it all this year (I had surgery)... but it is so much better more simple. I feel very calm without all the clutter :) Your tree looks cute and it looks fresh.
i love your christmas pillows. i started the same tradition this year.. it really is so fun to have cute christmassy pillowcases. the fabric with the people is from joanns. i saw it the other day.
We're going minimal this year too! I don't know, somehow it just feels right, and yes, definitely less stressful! Love your quilts and have had your sprocket pillows on my to do list for a while. January sounds good! :)
I just love your "Seeing Red Quilt"! Thank you for sharing with us about your Christmas Holiday. Kim
I just love your tree....especially the place that your 4 year decorated!! Perfect! Also your red and white quilt is AMAZING!!
P
Everything looks gorgeous. I'm especially partial to the quilt.
Teresa
We did the same thing. Less is more. :)
I have that Alexander Henry fabric too. I only pulled it out last night with intention of making some mini bunting from it.
I loved that triangle quilt last year and i still love it oodles. Makes me want one for my own bed. Which is quite ironic as I am making a blue and white triangle quilt for my own bed at the time, but in a completely different configuration!
Also, is it weird that I like the candy fabric better than the people?
I love your tree!!! And that red/tan quilt.....oh I am lusting after that quilt! :0 Love the tradition of pillowcases. :)
Yay for simplicity. Everything looks great!
LOve the quilt, bu then I always love yours. I haven't even begun to decorate beacuase like you, THERE IS JUST TOO MUCH!
But since you have gone ahead and cut back, so can I :)
I so agree with you, I just got my stuff out and only took about 1/2 out of the boxes. I even got rid of some of it I'm not ever going to use. Half of my attic was filled with Christmas stuff! I'm trying to keep it much simpler and more natural this year without so much stuff. Planning to buy a lot fewer gifts too!
I love your red triangle quilt so much, one of my all time favorites!
Elisabeth
Anyone know what the fabric on the pillowcase is? Love it!
How did you manage to get Michael Jackson's glove for your tree? A-mazing! ;-)
I LOVE the glitter hand print ornament....the ornaments my kids make are by far my fav :)
I scaled down this christmas too, and feel all the better for it. The quilt and tree are wonderful :)
looks really beautiful allison, and hopefully we're off to cut down a small tree tomorrow. :)
I am a little in love with that second fabric! Thanks for sharing such a cool tradition!
love the quilt! and the pillow cases! I'd love to have a simple Christmas but it's not happening yet .. in a few yeas maybe.
Love the quilts and pillowcases!
I also kept it simple this year and didn't put out all of my decor. I kinda like it better that way! Next year I can use the stuff I didn't put out this year! :)
I hear you on the stress! We spent 4 hours putting up decorations last Saturday and it about did me in. Hopefully next year we can do without so much, but then again, it's the kids who insist that every single thing gets put out. LOVE that people print fabric!!!! I must find some!
I love the pillowcases and that people fabric is adorable. My big tub of christmas stuff has been staring at me all week. I think I may follow your lead here and just take out the really special things. Oh and love your little ones decorating...so cute!
I made Christmas Eve pillowcases for my nieces about 17 years ago...and was so thrilled to see them in their homes even now that they're "all grown up". Now it's time to make some for the next generation. Anything used once a year is bound to become special and a tradition, right?
Enjoy your simple Christmas.
everything looks so fantastic! and my advice if I could do-over; leave the tree. take pictures and laugh about them with your kids in a few years, but leave it. they are proud of helping and will look for the things they hung. really; everyone else knows you didn't hang them like that! merry merry
Regarding the red/tan quilt . . . is that a Kona cotton solid? Maybe Khaki, or natural? It's very nice with the reds.
Thanks,
Sherri
This year I got out a lot less, too, but that has more to do with having a 5, 3, and 1 year old! My brother in law blows glass, so we have some pretty impressive ornaments that I left in the box this year. I didn't want anything getting broken. It will be a few years before they make it back on the tree!
Pretty pillowcases. My kids and I made Halloween ones, so I guess we need to make some winter themed ones asap!
Love the idea of Christmas pillowcases! They are very cute. Simple is so sweet!
i love the quilt, allison! so pretty!
Everything is beautiful! I love the quilt and polka dot pillow!! I like the people fabric too, our Joanns is small and doesnt have a very good selection :(
Merry Christmas!!
Love the fabric, cases and your tree. We are careful this year putting things out so the cat doesn't get into the tree!
Simple and special has been my motto for the last few years. Your decorations look beautiful.
Several years ago, I permanently pruned our Christmas decorations to only two (good sized) totes. I have never regretted it. We have all the things that are most meaningful to us, and we can set up in a couple hours one evening. Then it is on to the enjoyment of the season!!
The picture of your tree with the manger in the background is beautiful! Really great shot!
soo cute, very pretty!
xoxo
I know what you mean about keeping it simple. I feel like we're being swallowed up by Christmas stuff sometimes. lol
I have to ask...did you make that garland or did you buy it? does the string have tubing between the circles to keep them in place? I'm in love with it.

I just love simple. We moved this past year, so we have a lot less to decorate with. I think I'm liking it this way too...and now we can concentrate more on the real meaning of Christmas.
Wow, thanks for the info on the fabric. I loved it when I saw it last year but my quilt store was out of it....I usually don't do fabric from Joanne's, but will make an exception!
i ♥ your sprocket pincushion and your simple christmas. a red and white quilt is on my {quilting} bucket list. yours is cute.
Love your fabric, the quilt and the pillow
I love that quilt. I have been coveting it ever since you posted it originally! I don't know if you 'd want to, but we're doing a linky party right now, kicking off the season with inspiration from year's past. I'd love it if you wanted to link up your Christmas quilt or any other inspiration you have!
Best,
~Angela~
