The other zig zag

I wasn’t going to blog this quilt since this is the ump-teenth time I’ve shown you a quilt like this…..but after sitting through an agonizing hour(s?) of quilting I needed someone to grumble too.  And you my friends…are that someone.

I love the look of straight line quilting but it is torture for me.  Seriously…I hate it.  Next time I need to get a good book to listen to.

I actually made this quilt awhile ago…but it wasn’t until I was boxing it up and sending it off to its new owner that I remembered how much I like the finished quilting.  Luckily straight line quilting is kind of like having a baby for me….pretty soon I’ll forget all about the pain and want to do it again.  Or not.  We’ll see.   Also…
The winner of the giveaway is Mickey White ( I sent you an email!).
And I have to say hello to my new friend Pam from North Carolina that I met in Joanns on Friday who is getting married today! Congrat’s Pam!  :)

Market highlights

Sick of all the market talk yet?  Me too.  But here’s some more…
During set up:

The first day with V (if you can’t tell I am really tall…and V is really short small):

Crashing the Riley Blake party with this crazy bunch (so..much…fun):

American Jane:

And more friends (photo taken by Sandi Klop herself):

Overall I had a great first market experience.  It’s always scary to put myself out there…but once I strapped on my big girl panties and went for it I was fine.   The best part was meeting all of these great blog friends face to face…the rest was just a perk.

Off Track complete

I love love this quilt.  It will so perfect slung over the back of my couch for the summer.  I fixed that Oops block…and despite many of you telling me to “leave it”….it would have made me a crazy lady so I fixed it.  I’m weird like that.

I pieced the back…the two large pieces are from The Good Life Collection from Robert Kaufman hitting stores in June & the navy blue strip is the Denyse Schmidt collection at Joann’s.   I quilted swirls & loops on this one…it turned out really really good.

I have to say a big ol’ thank you to my husband for standing out in public holding up quilts while the wind is blowing and his wife is barking orders….love you lots Jay.

Wouldn’t ya know that the day after Market I got the flu?  I’m counting my blessings I got it after market and not during.  Puking & patterns just don’t mix.

Market

I’m back from market and I am BEAT.   The car and trailer are still full of everything you see here and instead of unpacking I’m going to crawl into bed right this second.  I just had to leave you with a couple of photos first…goodnight!

Summer House

I love the way this one turned out.  Isn’t it amazing how different fabrics change the whole look of the quilt?  (this was my first quilt in this pattern…this was my second)  This fabric collection is Summer House.  Its not my usual color combo but I love it now that I can see it almost finished.
I’m in the midst of quilt market preparation madness.  I’m thinking now that it was a really bad idea to wait until the week before to do EVERYTHING.  If I don’t have time to check in before market…come visit me in Booth # 2310.   Now back to the last minute scramble!

Further proof…

That I should NOT be quilting when tired:

I sewed myself right to the quilt.  My husband had to come unpick me (after taking a photo…a true bloggers husband) because I couldn’t unpick myself with my left hand.
P.S.  Now don’t you go being all jealous of my sexy quilting gloves…they are my favorite.

Off Track….literally

Yes….this is my second quilt top in these colors in two weeks, but I really love these colors together!!!   This top is from a pattern/quilt I made for the Robert Kaufman booth at market.   My husband named it Off Track.

Only after basting half of it did I finally notice that it really is off track See?

How in the heck did I miss that???!!!! Luckily the "oops" block was in the bottom row so it was an easy unpick…but still worth a grumble and rolling of the eyes by yours truly.
