Book Review: A Beginner’s Guide to Free-Motion Quilting

7243746100_b9ace82004
Today I’m reviewing this fun book by my friend Natalia.
The book is full of detailed step-by-step instructions for free-motion quilting as well as 6 quilt patterns…this is my favorite:
10861_500_op8_cover
I tend to play it safe when I free motion quilt…I like fast and easy a little too much, so this book is a much needed kick in the pants to try something new.   I always do loopty-loops like this:
IMG_5446
I’d love to get good at something like this from her book:
Bonner, 10861, Fall 12
She makes it really easy and I love the section on quilting Negative Space.
To win a copy of Natalia’s book: A Beginner’s Guide to Free-Motion Quilting, leave a comment on this post and I’ll make my husband pick a random winner tomorrow.  :)

Coffee Break Whatever said...

I would so love to win this book! I am really trying to learn FMQ and can do meandering okay, but I REALLY want to learn how to do the designs as you show here...on a twin size quilt...with a regular machine! I have looked at so many options but none ever actually SHOW a person FMQ'ing a large size quilt with these kinds of deisgns. I really like that circle one you show, but I can't make it work in my regular machine...I want to learn how to manuvere that large of bulk around well enough to make these wonderful designs!
