January 24th is Local Quilt Shop Day…so I’m joining with some great people this weekend to share my favorite local shops, in hopes that you’ll get out this week and visit yours!
I’m lucky to have some great quilt shops nearby. I was hoping to get to a shop this weekend and take pictures…but since taking my 3 kids into quilt shop is not my idea of fun… I’m going to save my visit(s)for Quilt Shop Day.
Some great shops I frequent include:
Quilted Straight, Material Girls Quilts Shop, Esthers Fabrics, and Heirloom Quilts
You can learn all about Quilt Shop Day on this website. See the blogs and shops that are participating, as well as do your own Quilt Shop Day post and link it up! Happy shopping!

Love 'em all!
My girls actually love to go to the quilt shop! My 9 year old is absolutely obsessed with jelly rolls. She has two in her bedroom, just to admire. But I can't get her to sew for anything! Ha!
My favorite shop is a teeny tiny shop in Port Aransas Texas, run by one retired lady who decided to do it just for fun, so she is open whenever she feels like opening! She is wonderful.
I love quilt shops. Thank you for the date. My only problem is money. Being on retirement means shopping when you get your Social Security check. Haha.
I would love to have a quilt shop in the neighborhood. It is very difficult for me to find cotton fabric in Greece.
I got to visit Quilted Strait when I was up in your neck of the woods, a couple of years ago. It was a wonderful shop!
Oh to live in the US where you can go to your local quilt shops! I'd have to list my favourite online shops I think :)
Oh, you are so lucky to be able to frequent Esther's!!!! I discovered that shop on my first trip to Seattle and thereafter no trip was complete without a ferry ride over to Bainbridge Island to visit Esther's. You live in my favorite part of the country, hands down!
This is new to me and sounds like fun. :0)
Have a great weekend. Trish
That would have been LOTS of fun bringing the kids AND trying to take pictures! I found that is even more fun when I bring my husband and the kids with me. He lets them do everything they don't usually do while they are there. Of course, the younger one never forgets so the next trip is full of well Daddy let me do it last time!
We have lots of fabric stores (JoAnn, Fields Fabrics, Hobby Lobby) - but only ONE quilt shop that I know of! They have dreamy fabric and I'd love to join one of their quilting groups. But my crazy work schedule is cramping my fun at the moment (darn this needing to work thing ;-) )
I'm pretty spoiled because Columbus Ohio has several VERY nice quilt shops of different focuses... Modern is Quilt Trends and, not technically a quilting shop but none-the-less awesome, is Sew-To-Speak in Clintonville, and there are two stores with a little bit of everything: Glass Thimble and Quilt Beginnings. Then there are neighboring towns (suburbs) that have some excellent shops as well like, Calico Cupboard in Pataskala and there's one in Grove City I can't remember the name but it's really nice as well... so many shops and all of them well worth the visit!!
Allison....I love your blog, your patterns, ideas, etc. I didn't realize that there was a quilt shop in Port Gamble. I am going to have to go visit that one! I love Heirloom quilts, too and Material Girls. I live in Port Orchard so when my mom and daughter and I did the shop hop about 4 years ago, we found lots of new shops around the area. Thanks for sharing!
Have you ever been to Bayside Quilting down in Olympia? I love to go there when I'm in town and they were featured in Quilt Sampler a few years ago!
Allison...I'm not sure which side of the water you live on, but one quilt shop that is my favorite...is Keepsake Cottage Quilts in Bothell. It's just like good books, though, it is so hard to choose a favorite!
Wow, you have four quilt shops! We've got two little ones nearby and a slightly larger one a drive away but I'm not sure I'll make it to any of them as my two tiny girls aren't quite big enough for quilting (yet)!
Oh wow, the 24th is my birthday, how fitting! Guess I'll have to spend the day touring quilt shops. ;)
I would love to win this
Looking like a great book to own...love your contribution..
Congrats. What an amazing group of quilts! So much inspiration, I don't know what I want to do first.
Wow, looks like a terrific book.
Thank you for the chance to win the book! It looks great.
Hmm, I can see I will be having a little trip to Bainbridge Island in the near future. Thanks! Quilt shop and a yarn shop! Yay!
Have you been to Island Quilter on Vashon?
The Quilting Loft is a stone's throw from me, literally.
Would love to win it. Will they publish it in hard copy? elhostetler@yahoo.com
